An emergency contact number and a reference to the safety data sheet are required or expected depending on the jurisdiction.

What are the CLP label size requirements?

EU CLP Annex I sets minimum label dimensions by package capacity: up to 3 litres at least 52 × 74 mm; over 3 up to 50 litres at least 74 × 105 mm; over 50 up to 500 litres at least 105 × 148 mm; over 500 litres at least 148 × 210 mm. Each pictogram must cover at least one fifteenth of the minimum label surface area and never be smaller than 1 cm².

How do US and EU GHS label rules differ?

Both build on the same GHS core elements, but they adopt different GHS revisions and options. OSHA HazCom 2012 sets no minimum label dimensions and requires English on labels for the US workplace, while EU CLP fixes minimum label and pictogram sizes in Annex I and requires the official language or languages of every member state where the product is placed on the market. Classification cut-offs and the exact wording of some hazard statements also differ, so a label accepted in one market is not automatically accepted in the other.
