How do I choose the QR code error correction level?
QR codes support 4 error correction levels: L (~7%), M (~15%), Q (~25%), H (~30%). Use M for general purposes; use Q or H if you're overlaying a logo or the code may get scuffed or dirty. Higher error correction uses more modules, making the pattern denser for the same content.
What's the minimum print size for a QR code?
It depends on the amount of data and scan distance — a rule of thumb is that scan distance is about 10x the code's width. For close-range scanning, don't go smaller than 2x2 cm, keep each module at least 0.4 mm, and leave a quiet zone of 4 modules on every side.
Can a colored QR code be scanned?
Yes, as long as the foreground is darker than the background with sufficient contrast (dark code on a light background). Avoid a light code on a dark background (inverted colors) or gradients that reduce contrast, since scan reliability drops noticeably.
Is there a data capacity limit for QR codes?
Yes. At the highest version (40) and lowest error correction (L), a QR code can hold up to about 7,089 digits, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, 2,953 bytes, or 1,817 Kanji characters. More data means denser modules and a harder scan.
Is the generated QR code permanently valid?
